FESCO Electricity Theft: Punjab Government Sets Up Task Force

The Punjab Government has officially decided to launch an intense, province-wide crackdown against illegal energy consumption infrastructure. Senior law enforcement officials, regional security representatives, and dedicated FESCO electricity theft intelligence officers attended a high-level administrative meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

During the high-level meeting, participants heavily emphasized the structural importance of running joint operations, in which specialized utility intelligence teams would directly support state law enforcement agencies to curb power drainage.

The Chief Minister approved the immediate establishment of a dedicated Task Force to lead these local operations with active assistance from the Punjab Police department. More than 600 trained police officers will be deployed in this primary enforcement drive across major transmission zones.

State officials noted that this strategic campaign will not only drastically help in regional revenue recovery matrices but will also significantly reduce technical line losses and electrical accidents caused by unauthorized hook systems (Kunda system).

The government stressed that enforcing strict measures against FESCO electricity theft will successfully ensure an uninterrupted power supply framework to law-abiding consumers who regularly track their utility expenditures through the official Fesco Bill Online platform.
